وينترفيل يعتبر مقرًا لعائلة ستارك ومكانًا هامًا للأحداث في السلسلة، حيث يتم تناول العديد من القرارات السياسية والصراعات والتحالفات الحاسمة في هذا الموقع. كما يرتبط وينترفيل بعديد الشخصيات الرئيسية في القصة مثل إيدارد ستارك وكاتلين ستارك وأبنائهما.

تتميز الأيري بتصميمها الفريد ومعمارها الجميل، وتعتبر من أماكن الدفاع القوية في العالم الخيالي. تتميز بجدرانها العالية والصخور الشاهقة التي تحيط بها. يوجد في الأيري أيضًا القفزة البابلية، وهي تشكل جسرًا خطيرًا يربط الأيري بالجبل القريب، وتستخدم كوسيلة للدخول إلى القلعة.
